With some nice delay and a good while after midnight, the first part of our amazing STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 4 night at Urban Spree's gallery was over then and it has been already such a great & thrilling evening much more lovely and interesting than most loveless und boring Berlin events till that point. But, unbelievable enough, it has been just the first half of our "Re-Thinking PUNK!"-night... So we asked our guests to switch into the club room now for the second part, where DJ STEVE MORELL was just waiting for them to drive our hungry guests directly onto the dance floor. And it worked out fine... super fine... you could feel the party fever from the first seconds and STEVE did such a great job to let not one single person standing still... amazing!!! Thanx so much, Steve, thanx you lovely & stylish party people!!! ♥

Introducing DEGENEROTIKA fashion

Just before the live concert of SCHEN could start, it was about time to introduce and say thanx to DEGENEROTIKA fashion. Beside the lovely designers themselves, Thea B. Adora & Jasa Gladez, they also provided our artist Shąvi Ląvi, curator Kersten Haines and musician Laura Schen with their wonderful and superb avantgarde fashion designs.

All three had their very own character and topics, but have been set up in such a lovely style, that they worked amazingly well together and looked simply beautiful in their interaction... Thank you so much, Elke, Shavi & Nora for your gorgeous contributions to our extra-ordinaire event!!! I think, I never loved an art exhibition opening and the aesthetics and atmosphere of your united works more than this one of the three of you... it was just perfect!!! ♥♥♥

The Beginnings of a Great Adventure

Pleasantly early of STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 4 with the topic "Re-Thinking PUNK!" the gallery of URBAN SPREE filled up with many guests and it soon became clear that our night would be joined by a lot of interested, interesting and nice people. In this first period many guests got pictured in front of our STREET GLAMOUR PHOTO WALL and were watching our great and wonderfully varied ART EXHIBITIONS of Elke Graalfs, Nora Below and Shąvi Ląvi. It has been the beginnings of a long, wonderful, lovely and finally crazy freaked-out night!!!

Hope to look like a brave curator with many great and lovely visions... Kersten Haines in a new hair-style saying Hallo to our guests and explaining the mission and heart of the STYLE! IT! TAKES! project

Guests listening my quite long opening speech, introducing our project and this blog... talking about it's politics... making references to women's, queer & human rights... the death of Nelson Mandela and about supporting the Berlin struggles of the refugees right in front of our doors... and also about last year's death of Lou Reed, the Velvet Underground & Andy Warhol (Style It Takes)... and saying very nice words about our participants and always very lovely guests and atmosphere... ♥

Cassandra by NÄD MIKA

"Cassandra is never the same..."

In December last year, NÄD MIKA produced a music video for her amazing & wonderful song "Cassandra" (from her gorgeous new album "Liebling Bang Bang"). Professional TV-filmer Katha Gramke filmed several days during extremely heavy weather in different in- and outside locations in Berlin and also in Brandenburg in a very nice enchanted area. Containing nearly everything from scenes in an old castle over a misty and rainy lake to BDSM-scenes with a nude model and nightly cold Berlin street scenes, the several hours of film material have been cutted now by same-professional film cutter Susi Hecht and will be presented for the first time in public and exclusively in the uncensored (!) version at STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 4 on 17th of January at Urban Spree (Berlin-Friedrichshain)!!! ♥

I'm very happy that our wonderful and lovely long-distance cooperations from the past (like her amazing photo shoots of Popsimonova in Degenerotika fashion designs and of Degenerotika's 'Nevermore-Collection') this time finally can take the shape of her personally joining our project here in Berlin. I've been waiting and we all have been waiting for her passionately all the time!!! But as she beautifully said to her wonderful friends on NYE a year ago:

"31.12.2012 Ljubljana - Berlin - Belgrade: Separation exists only in human mind!"

Here are some first impressions of her great exhibition “Tiresijeve grudi” ("The Breasts of Tiresias") shown before in two solo exhibitions, one at gallery "Univerzitetska biblioteka Svetozar Marković" in Belgrade (Serbia) where she lived for three years, and another solo exhibition in Ravne na Koroškem (Slovenia) at KMKC kompleks. Beside other magazines, the Serbian issue of ELLE has reported on her work in a bigger article.

Shąvi writes:

The concept of photos represents the beauty of human body through movement and reflection of emotional states. Photos depict surreal poses of female and male figures, sensuality, contrast of darkness and light, eroticism and innocence. The project was named after the play by the French author Guilaume Apollinaire, Les Mamelles de Tiresias, who described his ballet as something more than reality and for the first time used the word surrealism. In Greek mythology, Tiresias was a blind prophet famous for clairvoyance and for being transformed into a woman for seven years, therefore understanding the pleasures of both man and woman. HE IS A SYMBOLIC REPRESENTATION OF A SYMBIOTIC ENTITY CONSISTING OF A MAN AND WOMAN, DARKNESS AND LIGHT, MOVEMENT AND IMMOBILITY. Male and female bodies meet with passion thus creating surrealistic figures which is associated with Tiresias' transformation into the opposite sex. There is a strong connection between the notion and the meaning of transformation and the most intrinsic parts of human psychology dating from mythological times and stories. Tiresias embodies all the connotations and ideas of transformation of the prehistoric and civilized man combining it with the soul-machine of mechanical posture, dance and movement in general depicted in the photos.

 



I feel honoured and thrilled that this amazing artist will attend with her work to our Night of Fashion, Performances, Arts & Music. So don't miss her exhibition! And...
