Vor ziemlich genau einem Jahr habe ich mit meinem STYLE! IT! TAKES! Projekt das Pariser Label VILORIJA von Jelena Vujanovic und ihre damalige "Blume" Kollektion zu uns zur Berlin Fashion Week eingeladen. Nach der Modenschau bei unserem Event sind wir einen auch für mich neuen Schritt gegangen, in dem ich Jelena beim Verkauf ihrer Kollektion in der Stadt unterstützte und sie mit dem Modedesigner Gregor Marvel und seiner Boutique & Galerie Friendly Society in Berlin-Mitte zusammenbrachte. Umso mehr freut es mich, dass unsere Zusammenarbeit fruchtete und auch Jelena's neue Kollektion wieder in der Boutique verkauft wird. Am Samstag wird sie im Rahmen der Fashion Week in der Friendly Society vorgestellt, wozu wir Euch herzlich einladen möchten! Aber Leser*innen unseres Blogs bekommen natürlich schon vorab exquisite Einsicht in diese wundervolle Kollektion, die den schönen und passenden Namen "Prêt-à-Voyager" ("Ready-to-Travel") trägt.

About exactly one year ago, with my project STYLE! IT! TAKES! I have invited the Paris label VILORIJA by Jelena Vujanovic and her "Blume" (Flower) collection of that time to us for Berlin Fashion Week. After the fashion show at our event we took a further step which was also new for me: I supported Jelena with the sale of her collection in the town and brought her together with fashion designer Gregor Marvel and his boutique & gallery Friendly Society in Berlin-Mitte. So I'm very happy that our cooperation bore fruits und that Jelena's new collection is sold again in the boutique, too. On Saturday during Fashion Week it will be presented in the Friendly Society and we like to cordially invite you to this! But readers of our blog of course get exquisite insight already ahead into this wonderful collection which has the beautiful and appropriate name
"Prêt-à-Voyager" ("Ready-to-Travel").

Schon Revolutionssteuer gezahlt?

In einer anderen Zeit – es war auch eine Weihnachtszeit – erzählte ein üblicherweise gut informierter Freund und Genosse (so hieß das damals!) an einem sehr schönen Abend in Kreuzberg, einst (schon damals: einst!) hätte es dort eine Revolutionssteuer gegeben. EINE WAS???

Eine Revolutionssteuer!!!

In einer Zeit, in der vor allem widerliches, reaktionäres deutsches Pack (WiReDePa, oder auch: Wir(r) rede(nd)es P.a.c.k. bzw. Wirr-Rede(n) (wie) (Urgroß-Pa)-Pa) auf sich aufmerksam macht, wirkt diese Nachricht aus einer vergangenen, wunderbaren WG-Küche bestimmt verwunderlich...

Die Revolutionssteuer

Emsige Aktivist*innen zogen also von Haustür zu Haustür, von WG zu Hausprojekt, von linker Anwaltskanzlei zu feministischem Buchladen, von Party zu Kneipenkollektiv und sammelten die Revolutionssteuer ein. Die Empfänger*innen der Revolutionssteuer (Nicaragua? Waffen für El Salvador? Politische Gefangene?) wurden vermutlich auf irgendeinem Hinterhof-Plenum, im Hausprojekt oder Stadtteilkollektiv oder auf einer Vollversammlung ausdiskutiert, erstritten und / oder beschlossen. Ihr werdet jetzt vielleicht lachen, aber ich finde das immernoch eine wunderbare Idee aus einem vielleicht besseren (wer weiß? wer mag es entscheiden?) und längst untergegangenen (Vorwende-) Berlin.

Gegen den Terror des IS ('Islamischer Staat') helfen nur schwere Waffen, rosa Tutus - und Spenden!!!

Solidarität mit Kobane / Rojava

Den individualisierten (und vereinzelter werdenden) Zeiten entsprechend, habe ich nun ganz persönlich und ohne Plenum die diesjährige Revolutionssteuer beschlossen und natürlich ist sie nicht für mich (obwohl das auch garnicht so schlecht wäre *lach*). Gemeinsam mit der Initiative "Nachtleben für Rojava" sammeln wir von Euch Spenden für die Menschen, die in der nordsyrischen Region Rojava, in der dort liegenden (aus den Nachrichten bekannten) Stadt Kobane und in riesigen, notdürftigen Flüchtlingslagern im angrenzenden türkischen Staatsgebiet (wo es – erst recht jetzt in der Winterzeit – an so ungefähr allem mangelt) um ihre Freiheit, ihre Würde und ihr nacktes Überleben gegen die brutalen Angriffe der internationalen islamistischen Terrorgruppe 'Islamischer Staat' (IS) kämpfen, die die großartige, basisdemokratische 'Rojava Revolution' (wie auch jegliches andere gleichberechtigte Zusammenleben) dem Erdboden gleich zu machen versucht. Über die Hintergründe habe ich teilweise schon in meinen letzten Posts informiert, vor allem in Teil III & IV meiner Artikel-Serie "Von H&M nach Kobane".

Ich freue mich sehr, dass Teile des Berliner Nachtlebens an gute alte, solidarische Berliner Traditionen anknüpfen. Da ist STYLE! IT! TAKES! natürlich gerne mit dabei – und höchste Zeit, mich mal persönlich mit einem Outfit-Post für die Kampagne ins Feuer zu legen! Die liebe Inka (Gästen bekannt als unsere Einlass-Fee) hat die Photos dafür gemacht. Schönerweise ist nicht alles 'alleine' in diesen kalten und verregneten Vorweihnachts-Tagen. ♥

Nachtleben für Rojava gegen den terroristischen 'Islamischen Staat' (IS)

Mit amazonenhafter Labrys symbolisch und mit Spenden real für die Unterstützung der (nicht nur) kurdischen Kämpfer*innen der YPG / YPJ & PKK und der Zivilist*innen in und aus der syrischen Region Rojava

Mit Style gegen die IS #daeshbags

Getreu dem Motto "Das Private ist politisch" (noch so eine Idee aus jener 'vergangenen Zeit') haben wir uns einen schönen Dezember-Abend im Prenzlauer Berg gemacht und dort parallel ein paar Photos für die Kampagne geschossen (die Orte dienten nur als Photo-Kulisse, da wir nicht zum Sammeln unterwegs waren). Wir selbst haben natürlich schon was gespendet, also geht nun der Aufruf an Euch, noch eine Kleinigkeit draufzulegen. Auch geringfügige Beträge helfen weiter, also gebt Euch einen Ruck und überweist ein paar Euros. Die beteiligten Clubs, Bars, Bands und Veranstalter*innen haben übrigens schon über 10.000 € eingetrieben – wow! Nun heißt es Endspurt, denn die Aktion geht nur noch bis Ende des Jahres! Also auf zur Bank, sonst komme ich mit meiner 'Amazonenaxt' persönlich vorbei und treibe die Revolutionssteuer ein... (^.^)

Oben rum habe ich das Outfit etwas mehr Richtung 'YPG/PKK-Style' getrimmt (siehe dazu die entsprechenden Photos in Teil IV meiner Serie), mit einem khaki-grünen Kleid und einem breiten Gürtel mit Metall-Beschlägen (bei dem Licht leider nicht allzu gut zu erkennen) – eine modische Referenz auf die tapferen Kämpfer*innen der YPG / YPJ & PKK.

Da ich aber das Privileg genieße, mich nicht hungernd in zerbombten Städten und Dörfern mit veralteten Waffen gegen absolut mörderische Dschihadisten-Terrorbanden verteidigen und dergestalt 'praktisch' kleiden zu müssen, wir aber zusammen für ein solidarisches, friedliches und selbstbestimmtes Leben kämpfen, blieb ich bei dem geliebten rosa Tutu von Vilorija (der eigentlich ein Unterrock ist). Denn auch der ist ein starkes Statement gegen die menschenverachtende Ideologie der IS #daeshbags – und zum Spenden-Sammeln ist er auch super! :-)

Eine zeitlang habe ich bei den Planungen für die letzte STYLE! IT! TAKES! in der PANKE darüber nachgedacht, ob ich wieder das Stichwort "Arts (Kunst)" zu unserem Untertitel "Fashion, Performances & Music" hinzufügen soll - Ideen und Möglichkeiten hätte es genug gegeben. Am Ende habe ich mich dazu entschieden, es wegzulassen, da es als zu viel Arbeit erschien, wieder eine Kunstausstellung wie erstmals im Januar in der Urban Spree Galerie bei unserer edition number # 4 zu organisieren - und unser Programm war auch schon wieder so voll...
Bis Inka und ich eines Tages während eines organisatorischen Besuches im PANKE Club diese wundervolle Frau trafen: Kuratorinnen-Kollegin Asta Labžentytė aus Litauen... Sie organisierte dort gerade eine Kunst & Mode Ausstellung mit acht Litauischen Designer*innen - genau wie wir für die Berlin Fashion Week. Also beschlossen wir, uns zusammen zu tun und - obwohl die Zeit für uns beide sehr kurz war während dieser stressigen Tage - ihre großartige Ausstellung mit dem schönen Titel "Unicorn is in the box / Einhorn ist in der Box" und unser fünftes STYLE! IT! TAKES! Event "Gärten der Lüste" am 12. Juli 2014 zu teilen. Höchste Zeit für ein Tribute an Asta und ihre tolle Ausstellung!!! ♥♥♥

Planning the last STYLE! IT! TAKES! event at PANKE club, for some time I thought about whether adding the point "Arts" to our subtitle "Fashion, Performances & Music" again - there have been enough ideas and possibilities for that. In the end I decided to leave it out, since it seemed too much work to organize an art exhibition again like for the first time in January at Urban Spree Gallery at our edition number # 4 - and our programme was so full again already...
Till, one day during an organisational visit in PANKE Club, Inka and me met this wonderful woman: fellow curator Asta Labžentytė from Lithuania... She was just organizing an arts & fashion exhibition there with eight Lithuanian designers - just like us for Berlin Fashion Week. So we decided to join forces and - though time was short for both of us during these stressy days - we shared her great exhibition with the beautiful title "Unicorn is in the box" and our fifth STYLE! IT! TAKES! event "Gardens of Desire" on 12th of July 2014. High time for a tribute to Asta and her terrific exhibition!!! ♥♥♥

EINHORN IST IN DER BOX

Während der Berlin Fashion Week hinterfragten acht junge Litauische Modedesigner das Konzept der Mode mittels zeitgenössischer Kunst. Ihre Arbeiten wurden in den Räumlichkeiten von “PANKE Kultur" präsentiert. Es war eine unkonventionelle Mode-Ausstellung, die Einwände erhob gegen die für die Modeindustrie übliche Konsumkultur und deren kommerzielle Auswirkungen. Die konzeptionelle Ausstellung und ihre Ausdrucksmittel (Performances, Objekte, Installationen, Audio und Video Arbeiten) luden sowohl Künstler*innen als auch Besucher*innen dazu ein, über die Grenzen zwischen Mode und Kunst nachzudenken.

UNICORN IS IN THE BOX

During the Berlin Fashion Week, 8 young Lithuanian fashion designers questioning the concept of fashion by means of contemporary art have been presented at the “PANKE culture” spaces. It was an unconventional fashion exhibition which contradicted commercial implications and consumer culture, constantly articulated by the fashion industry. The conceptual exhibition and its means of expression (performances, objects, installations, audio and video works) invited both artists and visitors to ponder upon the boundary between fashion and art.

... und für unsere Gäste blieb ein Großteil der Ausstellung, die über die Woche hinweg in der PANKE zu sehen war, erfreulicherweise auch bei unserer Veranstaltung präsent. Hier die Installation "(UNI)FORM - (MULTI)FORM" von Benas Bogušas im Konzertraum zu Zeiten des Soundchecks am Nachmittag, die vor Show-Beginn dann allerdings teilweise abgebaut werden musste, um mehr Platz für das Publikum zu schaffen. Aber es passte gut, denn mit der Installation erkundet Mode-Schöpfer Benas Bogušas...

... and a large part of the exhibition - which was to be seen over the week in the PANKE - fortunately stayed present for our guests also at our event. Here the installation "(UNI)FORM - (MULTI)FORM" by Benas Bogušas in the concert room at times of the soundcheck in the afternoon, which nevertheless had to be partly removed then before stage time in order to achieve more space for the audience. But it suited fine, since with this installation, fashion designer Benas Bogušas analyses...

"the links between a creative personality and the world around him/her. Having employed a cube as a geometrical form and a symbol of a reserved personality, the author manipulates its integrity. When dividing and transforming its rigid form, (...) Bogušas alters the structure of the cube as well as the colours and number of its sides to expose both the process of transformation and the transition between the dark and the light, closure and exposure."

What appears here like some kind of oversized coats, a super big shirt or a black swing originally all have been black & white coloured cubes of fabric, newly folded and arranged by the artist / designer.
Beside this conceptual work, Benas is also a great women's fashion designer.

Benas: Unsolvable puzzle.
Q: Is it difficult to create?
Benas: It is, yet when creating one is improving. This process is endless.

Vidmina Stasiulytės Arbeit "Genome of the universe" hingegen konnte bleiben und bildete während der Live-Konzerte von THE WINGS OF DESIRE and PATOKAI eine perfekte Kulisse. Gerade bei dem Konzert des argentinischen Cyber-Ritters, Future-Punks & Sci-Fi-Fans PATOKAI passte die kosmische Thematik perfekt!

"Based on scientific space explorations, the artwork (...) examines the phenomenon of the origins as well as the structure of micro (a human) and macro (the universe) worlds."

Vidmina Stasiulytė's work "Genome of the universe" however could stay and provided a perfect scenery during the live concerts of THE WINGS OF DESIRE and PATOKAI. Especially for the concert of Argentinian cyber knight, future punk & sci-fi fan PATOKAI the cosmic topic suited perfectly!

Q: If I wasn't a designer, I would be...
Vidmina: A teacher/professor or an astronaut.
Q: What is fashion for you?
Vidmina: Something that will always generate public interest.
Q: How will a human look like in 2100?
Vidmina: Possessing wider eyes and a bigger heart.
Q: What is the most unpleasant question?
Vidmina: So when are you getting married? (smiles)

"Evolution" demonstrates the author's efforts to design both emotionally and visually strong and shocking costumes which can be transformed into an extraordinary part of one's wardrobe worn daily if additional details (...) are removed."

Q: When creating, do you ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?"
Kristina: Nearly every time. This question lurks in my mind until I find reasonable arguments and answers.
Q: What is an outfit for a person?
Kristina:
Firstly, it's a means of protection against different climatic conditions.
Secondly, it's a body disguise.
Thirdly, it's a way of self-expression.
Q: The chicken or the egg?

Kristina: The feathered egg.

And also the last installation (by Agnė Biskytė) I want to introduce to you thematically suited wonderful to STYLE! IT! TAKES! ♥

"BON TON - EMANCIPATION illustrates the early 20th century woman's 'escape' from the long-lasting patriarchal femininity having been attributed to her centuries ago. The woman seems to have rejected good manners (bon ton) to finally reveal the zone of her erotic capital (i.e. her legs) having been hidden for centuries.
BON TON - EMANCIPATION thrives with iconic symbols of visual culture. Some of them might remind a viewer of a famous scene from the film The Seven Year Itch (1955) directed by Billy Wilder, where Marilyn Monroe is shown laughing as the wind blows up the dress and uncovers her legs. The others might recall a song named Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend from the musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes as they look at the crystallized show soles. This work invites its viewers to reflect upon the dominating standards and symbols of beauty, femininity and masculinity as well as their meanings and representations that are heavily exploited by today's modern culture."

Ich mochte sie am allerliebsten von allen - und wie immer spielte dieses Themenfeld auch in unseren Shows eine Rolle, zum Beispiel in der provokativen Performance von Tänzerin ANITA zu PATOKAIs 'Emanzipations-Lied' "Infinitive". Sie trug ein Hochzeitskleid von Designerin SCHRÜPPE McINTOSH, das an eine Zwangsjacke angelehnt war... ♥

I loved it the very most of all - and like always this topic area played a role in our shows, for example in dancer ANITA's provocative performance to PATOKAI's 'emancipation song' "Infinitive". She wore a Wedding dress by designer SCHRÜPPE McINTOSH which based on a straitjacket...♥
