AFTERHOURS

If you close the door, the night could last forever

leave the sunshine out and say hello to never...

After a very hot night even we had to finally leave .HBC in the morning of the 7th of July 2012...

So it was time to pack our stuff and leave the location of the first Style! It! Takes! night in Berlin.

Surprisingly now it was raining... Everyone being a kind of exhausted zombie we grabbed a taxi and went home for an afterhour... obviously we couldn't stop now!!! (^.^)

It's ok to look stupid after working like maniacs...

While everybody was kinda sleeping from time to time (even on the chairs... :-) discussing our experiences in that long long night Nora's amazingly stylish dog Tia seemed to be the only one awake and alive... but she hadn't sound checked, set up the stuff, performed, danced, greeted our guests, she didn't sing, didn't wear a corset and of course she didn't walk in very very high heeled shoes the whole night... (^.^) ...

My beloved friends gave me a wonderful gift: a stunning collar by fashion designer Louis Fleischauer (AMF KORSETS) which suited my KNOTH KOUTURE dress surprisingly well.

Details of my KNOTH KOUTURE dress. The following pictures actually were made weeks before the event.

We later decided to use transparent bra straps to let Jenny's wonderful design fully come to it's right.

At that time we tried out a lot of different panty colours and various shoes. We checked the dress with ripped blue tights, with white stockings and even with a red pantyhose (ouch! (^.^)...). My Lola Cruz heels were quite nice with it, too, but in the end we voted for skin coloured tights and a different pair of black high heels for the event...

So many decisions to be made...

Fashion Week? Fashion Night!!!

STYLE! IT! TAKES! ist ein ungewöhnliches Projekt anlässlich der Fashion Week. Musiker*innen, Performer*innen, DJs und Tänzer*innen kommen mit verschiedensten Mode-Designer*innen zusammen, die deren Bühnen-Outfits für eine STYLE! IT! TAKES! -Nacht gestalten oder zur Verfügung stellen. Die damit verbundenen Begegnungen und Kooperationen sind Teil des Konzepts.

Designs junger Berliner Designerinnen sind bei den Shows am 6. Juli ebenso zu sehen wie Outfits bereits etablierter Namen. Zu ersteren kann Knoth Kouture gezählt werden, ein junges Modelabel vor allem für Männer und spezialisiert auf extravagantes Mode- und Kostümdesign. Die Mode von SOOPH bewegt sich zwischen den Polen Street-Wear / Jugend-Subkulturen und High Fashion-Trends, kombiniert mit Einflüssen aus dem Mittleren Osten, Südamerika und Afrika. Weltweit geschätzt sind die künstlerisch-apokalyptischen Leder-Kreationen der schon 1997 in Los Angeles gegründeten und mittlerweile in Berlin ansässigen AMF Korsets . Dem gegenüber wirken die ebenfalls handgemachten, luxuriös-erotischen Mode-Accessoires von Fräulein Kink trotz BDSM-Anleihen beinahe zart und verspielt. Das Magazin Lingerie Insight wählte ihre „Miss Kitten Mask“ unter die zehn besten Accessoires 2012. Im subkulturellen Untergrund Kroatiens entstehen zwischen Club und Nähmaschine die Entwürfe von Lana Jastrevski .

Die auftretenden Musiker*innen und Performer*innen fungieren als Models: der Catwalk sind die Shows. Dazu gehören Performances wie die unglaubliche, legendäre Queer Grotesque Burlesque der New Yorkerin Clea Cutthroat und eine punkig-politische Spoken Word-Performance der in Bristol und Berlin als DJ und Bloggerin tätigen Musikerin Anika . Auch die Live-Konzerte schlagen Brücken zwischen verschiedenen Subkulturen und Lebensstilen. Eher pessimistisch muten die EBM-Sounds und Slogans („We Won’t Do It“) von Zarkoff aus Zagreb an. Doch mit einer außergewöhnlich guten Stimme kommen aus der düster-misanthropen Ecke – geprägt vom Trauma des Krieges in Jugoslawien – politisch-reflektierte Texte und optimistische Zeilen wie diese: “We are many and we are angry, we are the majority.” Immer auf dem Sprung sind Camera . Die drei spielen ihre energiegeladenen, hypnotischen Live-Gigs eigentlich am liebsten ohne Ankündigung und Genehmigung in Berliner U-Bahn-Schächten, an Straßenecken oder bei offiziösen Preisverleihungen. Bis die Polizei oder Security kommt. Diesmal wird ihr treibender, minimalistisch-experimenteller Krautrock-Noise zur Abwechslung vielleicht in voller Länge zu hören sein. Der Mode ohnehin sehr nahe ist die für ihre ausgefeilten Bühnenshows und kreativen Kostümwechsel bekannte, stimmgewaltige New Wave-Sängerin Nora Below . Ihre Songs bestechen durch komplexe Arrangements, durchdringende Basslinien, hypnotische Industrialbeats, atmosphärische Synthiesounds und wunderbar-eingängige Melodien. Die Texte durch Gefühl und Schlauheit. Trotz ähnlichem musikalischem Background weitaus technoider klingt Popsimonova aus Kroatien, das atemberaubende Solo-Projekt der ehemaligen Dekolaz-Sängerin mit ihrer unverkennbaren sexy Stimme. Ihre pulsierende, elektronische Club-Musik ist vibrierend, flackernd und flimmernd wie Ausgehen – hinein in eine grandiose Großstadt-Nacht. Wer still steht, ist schon tot. Zur Mode gehört Bewegung…

Die lange Nacht der Mode ist ein rauschendes Fest aus Musik, Tanz und Party. Die Gäste und ihr Style werden zum direkten Bestandteil eines unplanbaren Ereignisses.

Rund um das Projekt wurde dieses Blog (http://style-berlin.blogspot.de/) erstellt, das die Beteiligten vorstellt und die Begegnungen von Mode und Musik dokumentiert, aber auch nicht halt macht vor gesellschaftlichen Themen wie der Stadtentwicklung und dem damit verbundenen Niedergang der Clubkultur.
