TAKES! # 5 von THE WINGS OF DESIRE kam die schöne Bloggerin EN FINSTERNIS (http://nebelviolet.blogspot.com) in einem wunderschönen schwarzen Kleid aus der Kollektion "Pure Seduction" von V I A N Fashion vor die Bühne und performte in stummfilmartiger Mimik eine ganze Geschichte, die sich um diesen Song dreht... eine sehr beeindruckende, ausdrucksvolle und schöne, wenn auch düstere Performance... ♥

For the second last song "Divers" of the first live-concert at STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 5 by THE WINGS OF DESIRE the beautiful blogger EN FINSTERNIS (http://nebelviolet.blogspot.com) came in a wonderful black dress out of the collection "Pure Seduction" of V I A N Fashion ahead of the stage and performed with mimes reminiscent of the silent film era a whole story revolving around this song... a very impressive, expressive and beautiful, though gloomy performance... ♥

EN FINSTERNIS in the beautiful dress by V I A N Fashion reading the letter with the last words of her love, the diver, sung about in the wonderful song of THE WINGS OF DESIRE...

Have you ever seen light where is no sun
Have you ever watched underwater dance

You can't imagine all the damage we have done
And how my yearning for your warmth intense

The gestures and mimes of EN FINSTERNIS beautifully reminded a lot of old movies of the 'golden years' of the 1920s era, so also the 'Jazz-impression' of clarinettist Lena from THE WINGS OF DESIRE suited perfectly... ♥

Trotz all der Traurigkeit im Ausdruck verkörperte die schöne EN FINSTERNIS ganz hervorragend die mit ihren Reizen und durch ihre Schönheit ihren Verehrer (oder ihre Verehrerin) ins Verderben stürzende Femme fatale, deren Typus inspirierend für die V I A N - Kollektion "Pure Seduction" war, aus der das Kleid stammt... ♥

Despite of all the sadness in expression the beautiful EN FINSTERNIS brilliantly embodied the type of the Femme fatale who with her charms and her beauty precipitates her devotee into ruin, a stock character which has been inspiring for the V I A N collection "Pure Seduction", from which the dress is a part of... ♥

There's no other place where the movements are so graceful and slow

Where bible black darkness gives birth to a beautiful glow
mellow
I've seen oysters that were as Archangels bright
How i wish you could see them my deep beloved bride

EN FINSTERNIS (in the semi-transparent triangle-shaped dress by V I A N Fashion with

beautiful black lace around the neck)

tears the horrific letter to pieces...

I still fall into darkness like a spaceship that lost it's orbit
Morbid
Nothing that i can do, but to sink into this bottomless pit
And repeat
The words that before that "prayers" were called
But now sound meaningless, empty and cold

... starting a gloomy ceremony with a candle and hiding behind an also triangle-shaped black scarf she moved up and down slowly in front of her face with empty eyes...

In combination with her 'big hair' that enchanting scene reminded me a bit of the high priestess of Dark Punk,

Siouxsie Sioux... ♥

... finally kneeing down and starting to pray...

Mit diesem (fast) Ende des großartigen THE WINGS OF DESIRE Konzertes sind wir recht tief in die Ozeane der Gärten der Lüste (unser Motto) getaucht... mit einer wunderschönen Performance voller Dramatik und Erotik, Traurigkeit und Tränen... beeindruckend umgesetzt und inszeniert von EN FINSTERNIS! Traumhaft!!! ♥♥♥

Aber was könnte uns wieder aufmuntern? Definitiv: noch mehr Feuer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥

So, with this (nearly) ending of this great THE WINGS OF DESIRE concert we dived quite deep into the oceans of The Gardens of Desire (our motto)... with a wonderful performance full of drama and erotic, sadness and tears... impressively implemented and enacted by EN FINSTERNIS! Gorgeous!!! ♥♥♥

But what could cheer us up? Definitely, even more fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥

Berlin Fashion Week 12. Juli 2014 @ PANKE Club & Garden

Nach unserem Programm in Hinterhof, Terrasse und Garten des netten Panke Clubs in Berlin - Wedding mit der großartigen Musik von DJ Frau Rica, der "Blume" - Show vom Pariser Mode-Label VILORIJA und der "Ponygirl"-Show von Evilyn Frantic und Mistress Wanda zogen wir planmäßig mit Einbruch der Dunkelheit um ca. 21.30 h ins Innere des Clubs, wo uns DJ-Sets und die Live-Konzerte mit weiteren Performances erwarteten. Nach einem tollen Tanz-Set von DJ Frau Rica kam dann die ursprünglich in Israel gegründete und nun in Berlin ansässige Hot Wave-Band THE WINGS OF DESIRE auf die Bühne. Ein Konzert, auf das ich mich schon lange sehr gefreut hatte - wir wurden nicht enttäuscht!!! Und das eigentlich alleinige Bandmitglied Boris hatte noch eine ganz spezielle Überraschung parat - und kam mit einer Klarinettistin!!! ♥

After our programme in the backyard, terrace and garden of the nice Panke Club in Berlin - Wedding with the great music by DJ Frau Rica, the "Blume" - Show of Parisian fashion label VILORIJA and the "Ponygirl"-Show of Evilyn Frantic and Mistress Wanda we moved as scheduled with nightfall around ca. 21.30 h into the inside of the club, where DJ sets and the live concerts with further performances expected us. After a terrific dance set by DJ Frau Rica the Hot Wave band THE WINGS OF DESIRE, originally founded in Israel and now located in Berlin, came on stage. A concert I've been looking forward to very much since a long time - and we weren't dissappointed!!! And the normally only band member Boris had a very special surprise on hand - and came with a clarinettist!!! ♥

Boris trägt ein rotes Leder-Top von KNOTH KOUTURE und kombinierte es mit rotem Lippenstift, rotem Lidschatten und rotem & schwarzem Nagellack.

Modisch ausgestattet wurde Bandgründer Boris vom Berliner Label KNOTH KOUTURE. Die Mode-Designerin Jennifer Knothe hatte extra für diese Show ein ursprünglich graues Leder-Männertop aus ihrer Kollektion neu und auf Maß angefertigt - in knallrot!!! Vorne mit einem Reissverschluss versehen und ärmellos, wodurch es sich auch zum E-Gitarre spielen sehr gut eignete. Trés trés chic!!! ♥

Band founder Boris has been vested by Berlin label KNOTH KOUTURE. Fashion designer Jennifer Knothe newly custom-made an originally grey leather men's top out of her collection extra for this show - in bright red!!! In front equipped with a zipper and sleeveless, so that it was very suitable for playing electric guitar, too. Trés trés chic!!! ♥

THE WINGS OF DESIRE spielten ein sehr energiegeladenes und abwechslungsreiches Set mit zahlreichen meiner Lieblingssongs wie das Dub-beeinflusste "Planets" (Boris ist u. a. großer Portishead-Fan) oder das quirlige New Wave-Stück "Dead Town". Kaum zu glauben für uns Zuhörer*innen war der Fakt, dass sich Boris und Klarinettistin Lena erst kurz vor dem Konzert bei STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 5 zusammengefunden hatten - es hörte sich an, als ob die beiden seit Jahren miteinander musizieren!!! Trockener Kommentar von Lena dazu nach dem Konzert: "Die Leute denken immer sonstwas bei Klarinette. Dabei ist es ganz einfach: Du bläst rein und es kommt ein Ton raus!" (^.^) Großartig!!! ♥

THE WINGS OF DESIRE played a very energetic and varied set with numerous of my favourite songs like the Dub-influenced "Planets" (Boris is, beside others, a big fan of Portishead) or the feisty New Wave number "Dead Town". Hard to believe for us listeners has been the fact that Boris and clarinettist Lena had found together just shortly before the concert at STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 5 - it sounded like the two of them are making music together since many years!!! Deadpan comment of Lena to this after the concert: "People are always thinking something big when it comes to clarinett. Actually, it's very simple: You blow inside and a sound comes out!" (^.^) Great!!! ♥

Ein super Konzert mit einem selten zu hörenden und sehr eigenständigen Mix aus Wave, Post-Punk und anderen Einflüssen von Dub bis zu Rock'n'Roll - wunderbar!!! Und es gab dann auch noch eine Show in der Show, von der ich Euch in meinem nächsten Post berichten werde... ♥

An awesome concert with a rarely to hear and very distinct mix of Wave, Post-Punk and other influences from Dub right up to Rock'n'Roll - wonderful!!! And then there has also been a show inside of the show, from which I will report you in my next post... ♥

Ich freue mich riesig, den ersten Live Act für STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 5 ankündigen zu können:
den Hot Wave von THE WINGS OF DESIRE!!!

I'm very happy to announce that the first live act performing at STYLE! IT! TAKES! # 5 is confirmed: THE WINGS OF DESIRE play Hot Wave!!!

"Misanthrope" - not a typical, but a great song from THE WINGS OF DESIRE

Das enorm vielseitige 'Post-Punk'-Projekt von Boris K., einem aus Israel stammenden, wunderbar androgynen und modisch sehr wandlungsfähigen Neu-Berliner, vereint verschiedenste musikalische Einflüsse. "Planets" klingt fast wie ein düsterer Reggae mit deutlichen Dub-Einflüssen (Boris schrieb mir, er sei ein großer Fan von Legenden wie Portishead und dem jamaikanischen Toningenieur King Tubby) und könnte irgendwie auch von den Talking Heads sein, das quirlige Tanz-Stück "Dead Town" ist New Wave im besten Sinne des Wortes und ein wunderschöner Ohrwurm, der mich immer zum Mitsingen ermuntert, "Illumination" ist harter, noisiger Rock'n'Roll irgendwo zwischen Gun Club und The Cramps, an die auch "Outside" ein wenig erinnert, "Misanthrope" ist ein langsamer, elegischer und sehr dramatischer Song, der auch Nick Cave gut zu Gesichte stehen würde und einen immer mehr in seinen Bann zieht. Hört am besten selbst rein, es lohnt sich wirklich! Selbst wenn ein Stück nicht so gefallen sollte, jeder Song hat seinen ureigenen Stil wie mensch es nur selten hört...

The very multi-shaded 'post-punk' project by Boris K., a wonderfully androgynous and in terms of fashion very versatile Berlin-Newcomer, originally from Israel, unites many different musical influences. "Planets" even sounds a bit like a dark Reggae with strong Dub influences (Boris wrote to me, he's a big fan of legends like Portishead and the Jamaican sound engineer King Tubby) and somehow could also be from the Talking Heads, the feisty dance number "Dead Town" is New Wave in the best sense of the word and a wonderful earcatcher always encouraging me to sing along, "Illumination" is hard, noisy Rock'n'Roll somewhere between Gun Club and The Cramps, of whom also "Outside" reminds a bit, "Misanthrope" is a slow, elegiac and very dramatic song, which Nick Cave might have liked to sing, too, fascinating more and more while listening. Best you listen to it yourself, it's worth it totally! Even if you don't like one song that much, every single one has it's very own style, something which elsewhere happens rarely...

There's a legend about the band saying, Junkyard+The Wings of Desire were originally a post-punk band formed already 1982 in Berlin by Boris K, D.H Lowrence and Tom Alesis.

"The band recorded only one demo until their break-up in 1984. In November 2011 Boris decided to revive the band."

Sounds somehow interesting and mysterious! (^.^) ;-)

"The Wings Of Desire is merely a boat floating on the ever coming waters of emptiness and self loss. Not matching in any category before it was mainstream. A voice rising up from mute depths of fashionable facelessness. A piece of throbbing love which will find an echo in every heart. A splinter of loneliness which dwells in every pair of eyes. An audible despair that mirrors every face looking at it."

"Started at 2012 as Junkyard + The Wings Of Desire. Record of the EP "Underground Tapes" in a mood of early gothic post-punk. The very name kinda exposed the influences which i had then - Junkyard was the second album by The Birthday Party - a band that i totally adored, The Wings Of Desire - is a movie that i might say changed my life and the combination of them with the plus sign was a nod towards another band i like - Crime + The City Solution."

"Speaking of directions, from now on the musical style of The Wings Of Desire will be described as "Hot Wave" since it's rooted mostly in the Post-Punk and Wave music but doesn't take as a goal being purposely cold and emotionless, on the contrary it will try as much as it is possible embrace the passionate side of music in this way being so to speak an opposite of Cold Wave."

Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Pink Floyd, Portishead, Peter Hammill, the slow heavy blues pieces of Led Zeppelin or Janis Joplin, Roy Harper, Robert Wyatt - all these authors have made music which had the same kind of influence on me and to which i felt connected as much as to the works of
The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division or Siouxsie.”
